Tiger's Prime Minister
Long ago, Tiger was the king of the forest. He was looking for a Prime Minister to help him. Boar, Monkey, and Rabbit came for the job. Tiger told them he needed someone who knew just what to say at the right time. Then he stood near them and breathed on their faces. The smell was very foul. Tiger asked them to describe his breath.
"Oh, King," said Boar, "your breath is as sweet as the ripest fruit!"
"You are a flatterer who does not tell the truth!" said Tiger. Then he pounced on Boar and ate him up.
Monkey said, "you can count on me, sir, to tell the truth. Your breath is terrible!"
Tiger growled, "Your words are harsh. You speak without thinking of the feelings of others!" Then he pounced on Monkey and ate him up.
By this time, Rabbit was very nervous. He did not say a word. Tiger roared for him to answer. Rabbit said, "I am sorry, Great King. I have a bad cold. I cannot smell today."
Tiger said, "You are the one I am looking for, Rabbit! You have shown that you can say the right thing without flattery or cruelty. You are my new Prime Minister!"

Dance of the Bees
Did you know that some bees dance? Worker bees called "scouts" go out looking for food. They look for pollen and nectar from flowers. Pollen is a yellowish powder. Nectar is a sweet liquid. Both are used for making honey. When looking for food, scout bees search many different places. If a scout finds food, it returns to its hive. Then is does a dance for the other bees that are waiting at the hive. The scout moves in a certain way to "talk" to the bees. It might move in a circle of it might move in a straight line. THe speed of the dance is also important. The bee's dance shows where the food is lovated. It shows if the food is close or far away. It can even shgow how much food there is. After the bees watch the dance, the flyh off. Within minutes, they surround the source of food.

The Best Season
Kevin, Lisa, and their parents were having dinner. The two children were trying to decide which season was best.
"I think summer is the best," said Kevin. "Every day is warm and sunny. Look at all the things you can do. You can swim, ride your bike, or go roller blading. You can play all kinds of sports. Don't forget camping, too! Summer is the greatest!"
"Well, I like winter," said Lisa. "You can go ice skating at the rink. You can go skiing in the mountains. When it snows, you can build a snowman in the yard. The best part is roasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate. That's yummy!"
The two children looked at their parents. "What do you think?" asked Lisa.
Dad grinned. "I like spring," he said. "It means I don't have to shovel snow anymore, and I can go jogging again."
"I like autumn," said Mom. "I love seeing the leaves on the trees change color."
"Well, that's it then," said Lisa. "There's no season that's better than the others."
"Right!" said Kevin. "Each season is 'Number One in its own way."
