The present perfect

Used to talk about an action by not specifying the time that it happened.


EX: I have traveled to Paris many times.

We can also use the present perfect when:

  • Talking about actions that happened in an unfinished period of time ( this week/ this month/ this year)

  • Talking about something that happened in a recent past

  • Talking about a thing that happened a short while before the moment you are speaking.

How to use it correctly

We have to use the word "have" as an auxiliary verb, and the main verb in its past participle form.


EX: I have seen this movie (many times).


We can contract "I have" to "I've"

The present perfect continuous

Used when talking about actions that started in the past but are happening in the present.


EX: I've been playing Grand theft auto V with my brother, in a few days we might level up for sure!!

How to use it correctly

We use "have been" and the verb in its -ing form.


EX: I have been thinking about buying the playstation 5, but I'm not sure.
