Expressions 8-7
Determine if the problem is asking to find the volume, area, or length
2
Length tells how wide, tall, or long something is. Finding length requires one measurement. Length is one-dimensional and is measured in linear units.
3
Area tells how much surface a figure covers. Finding the area of a rectangle requires two linear measurements. Area is two-dimensional and is measured in square units.
4
Volume tells how much space an object occupies. Finding the volume of a rectangular prism requires three linear measurements. Volume is three-dimensional and is measured in cubic units.
5
To answer the question, tell if you need to measure for length, area, or volume. Then we will tell how the number of measurements you need to make.
