SIMPLE PAST
used to talk about things that happened in the past.

ABOUT SIMPLE PAST:
Simple Past has regular and irregular verbs.
Regular verbs - Rules:
+ ED in the end of the verb: watched listened played
+D in verbs that end with E: liked loved danced
+IED in verbs that end with Y after an consonant: studied tried
+ consonant + ED in verbs that are CVC: shopped chatted stopped

Irregular verbs: check the list
Affirmative form: just add ED, D or IED in the end of the verb if it’s regular or the irregular form of the verb in the sentence.
For example: She listened to that music yesterday. They bought a new cellphone last night.

Negative form: the verb goes back to normal and you add “DID NOT” or “DIDN’T”.
For example:
She listened to that music yesterday / She didn’t listen to that music yesterday.
They bought a new cellphone last night / They did not buy a new cellphone last night.

Interrogative form: the auxiliar DID goes to the front of the sentence and the verb goes back to normal.
For example:
She listened to that music yesterday / Did she listen to that music yesterday?
They bought a new cellphone last night / Did they buy a new cellphone last night?

Rewrite the sentences using the Simple Past form in the affirmative, negative and interrogative.
Example: They make watches. (Simple Present)
They made watches (Simple Past - Affirmative)
They didn’t make watches (Simple Past - Negative)

We use the Comparative to compare two or more things/people/places, etc.
The adjective changes its form depending on the rule.
Short adjectives (one syllable): + ER THAN
Your room is cleaner than your brother’s room.
Living in Pernambuco is cheaper than living in São Paulo.
Gilberto is taller than me.

Other rules:
Long adjectives (more than one syllable): MORE … THAN
Fernando de Noronha is more beautiful than Porto de Galinhas.
Einstein was more intelligent than Pinocchio.
Zac Efron is more handsome than Shawn Mendes.
Short adjectives that end with CVC: + consonant + ER THAN
Elephants are bigger than dogs.
Snakes are thinner than dolphins.

Irregular adjectives:
good - better = Neymar is better than Kieza.

far - further = Petrolina is further than Caruaru leaving from Recife.

Present Continuous for the future
To talk about arrangements and plans. Something that you are planning to do in the future.
Formula: TO BE VERB (am, is, are) + VERB with ING at the end
He started to study English (Simple Past)/ He is starting to study English (PC for the future)
Negative form: negative of TO BE (am, is, are) + VERB with ING at the end. For example: He isn’t starting to study English.
Interrogative form: TO BE (am, is, are) goes to the front + VERB with ING at the end. For example: Is he starting to study English?

Going to for the future
we use “going to” to talk about things that are going to happen in an “immediate future”. To talk about something that is going to happen soon.
indicates an idea of a made decision (decisão tomada) or to predict an immediate future (predizer um futuro imediato)
Negative form: negative form of TO BE (am, is, are) + GOING TO. Ex.: John isn’t going to travel to France
Interrogative form: TO BE (am, is, are) in the beginning of the sentence + GOING TO. Ex.: Is John going to travel to France?
