But Maria is the tallest girl in class.
When comparing with 3 or more nouns, we add "est" to the adjective.

If the adjective ends with a single vowel follow by a single consonant letter, the consonant is doubled.
Examples: thin-thinner-thinnest, big-bigger-biggest, fat-fatter-fattest
except in the words: new and slow, in this case you follow the first instrucctions. slow-slower-slowest, new-newer-newest

Adjective with more than 3 syllables, we add more or most.
examples: more expensive-most expensive, more beautiful- most beautiful, more colorful-most colorful.
