THE THEME FOUND IN A POEM
26
WHAT ARE THE THEMES ?
There are four (4) themes that can be found in a poem :
First theme - Hero worship / Heroes can be found in everyday life
Statement - We can be heroes in our daily lives when we carry our duties diligently, honestly and with perseverance . Thus, even simple people can be heroes when they show compassion, courage and endurance in the face of challenge

27
Continuation ...
Second theme - Parent-child relationship / Family relationships

Example - The child is closed to his / her father . He / She gets to observe his / her father and learn about the things that the father is not afraid of as well as the thing that he is afraid of
28
Continuation ...
Third theme - Children cannot be fooled
Statement - In modern times, children are exposed to a lot of information and technological advances, so they are sometimes able to make intelligent judgments . Thus, they are not so easily fooled
Example - The child is able to question why it is his / her mother who has to remove the spider out of the bathtub even though his / her father is as brave as a dad can be
29
Continuation ...
Fourth theme - It is best not to pretend
Statement - It is wise to pretend and boast of qualities that we have (or do not have), or of things we can (or cannot do) . When the truth is revealed, it can be embarrassing and shameful for the person who pretends or boasts
