Format for Writing Test (Task 1)

  • 1 graph (either dynamic/static)

  • Write approximately 150 words

  • Write 3 paragraphs

  • Paragraph 1: 2 sentences- the overview of the graph & the overall trend

  • Paragraph 2: Body paragraph

  • Paragraph 3: 1 sentence- the conclusion. Paraphrase your overall trend

Format for Speaking & Listening Test

  • 1 topic given

  • Preparation time: 2 minutes

  • What to write in that 2 minutes:

  • Your stance. Agree, disagree, partial?

  • 1 reason why you choose your stance

  • 1 example or explanation

Tips for Writing Task 1

  • VERY IMPORTANT. Determine whether the graph is a dynamic or static. DO NOT USE ANY DYNAMIC WORDS if you got a static graph.

  • Look at graph carefully. Jot down the subject matter of the graph, the scale

  • Count the words. Highlight the essay and then press CTRL + Shift+ C

Tips for Speaking

  • If you do not understand the topic given, IMMEDIATELY ask us for clarification

  • Remember to jot down the 3 points during preparation phase: stance/reason/example

  • Jot down your friends' points. Very helpful if you don't have idea

  • Use your friends' points to support/attack their points using your own example
