Parts of speech #1.1: Regular and irregular verbs

One of the most useful parts of speech among the other eight.

It's all about adding some "actions" to your phrases, so that they make sense! Let's get started!

What does "parts of speech" mean?

  • It's a classification that determines how each word functions grammatically, as well as their meaning.

  • Some words can act as different parts of speech, depending on the context!

  • Verb - Noun - Adjective - Adverb - Pronoun - Preposition - Conjunction - Interjection.

  • They are a part of speech that describe an action, a state or an occurence.

  • It can be either a physical action, a mental action or a state of being.

  • There are regular and irregular verbs!

  • They vary depending on the verb tense.

Regular verbs (rules):


  • 1 - they create the past simple and past participle form of the verbs by adding -ed.

  • 2 - If it ends in: consonant + -y, we change the -y to -i and add -ed.

  • 3 - If it ends in -e, we simply add -d
