Sometimes, the older pups stay with their families and help by standing guard outside the den to protect the younger pups. They also help to bring food to the pups as well as the nursing mothers.

The Paralympics began in Rome in 1960. It was organized so that athletes with disabilities could participate in Olympic-style games and compete against one another. Over the years, more disability groups were included and today, it includes athletes with six different types of disabilities. The games, however, strive to emphasize the abilities of the athletes rather than their disabilities. The Paralympic Games are held in the same year as the Olympic Games and are often held in the same country. Today, the Paralympic Games is one of the largest sports events, second only to the Olympic Games.
