Structure of the blood vessel walls

Tunica interna (intima)-simple squamous epitelium that reduces frictions between vessels and blood

Tunica media-smmoth muscle cells that contains elastins which controls dilation/constriction of the vessel

Tunica externa (adventitia)- contains collagen fibers that protects or reinforces and anchors the vessels to the surrounding structure

*all vessels except the smallest consist 3 layers

3 kinds of Circulation

Systemic Circulation

Coronary circulation

Pulmonary Circulation

Slide image

20

1. Systemic Circulation

The largest part of the circulatory system in which oxygen-rich blood flows to all organs and body tissues, except the heart, and lungs.

21

2. Coronary Circulation

Movement of blood through the tissues of the heart (cardiac muscle only).

-part of systemic c.s

Arterial supply:

1. Left coronary artery

2. Right Coronary artery
