Definition/Pengertian

Procedure text is a text that tell about how to make something/how to do something/how to use something/how to operate something

(Teks prosedur adalah teks yang memberitahu tentang cara membuat sesuatu/cara melakukan sesuatu/cara menggunakan sesuatu/cara mengoperasikan sesuatu)

Social Function/Fungsi sosial atau tujuan

1)    To explain/share/show the way/procedure/methods to make or operate something

(Untuk menjelaskan/berbagi/menunjukkan cara/prosedur/metode untuk membuat atau mengoperasikan sesuatu)

2)    To give guidance step by step in operating certain appliance

(Untuk memberikan panduan langkah demi langkah dalam mengoperasikan alat tertentu)

 

3)    To avoid a danger in operating certain appliance

(Untuk menghindari bahaya dalam mengoperasikan alat tertentu)

 

4)    To make easier in operating certain appliance

(Untuk memudahkan dalam mengoperasikan alat tertentu)

 

5)    To know how the appliance works correctly

(Untuk mengetahui cara alat bekerja dengan benar)

Text Structure/Struktur teks atau susunan teks

a.        Aim/goal (Tujuan)

It is ususally stated in the title or opening part. For example, How to Make Noodle

(Biasanya dinyatakan dalam judul/bagian pembukaan. Contohnya, Cara Membuat Mie)

 

b.       Ingredients/materials (Bahan-bahan)

It contains the materials or ingredients needed to make something.

(Berisi bahan-bahan yang dibutuhkan untuk membuat sesuatu)

 

c.        Steps/methods (Cara-cara/Langkah-langkah)

It explains the ways, methods, procedures to make or operate something

(Menjelaskan cara/metode/prosedur untuk membuat atau mengoperasikan sesuatu)

Language Features/Ciri-ciri kebahasaan

a.    The use of Imperatives and Obligations

(Penggunaan Kalimat perintah dan larangan)

 

b.    The use of Simple Present Tense (Penggunaan Simple Present Tense)

c.    The use of connective of sequence

How to Make Mung Bean Porridge

1.   One cup of mung bean (Secangkir kacang hijau)

2.   4 tablespoonfuls of sugar (4 sendok makan gula pasir)

3.   ½ teaspoonful of salt ( ½ sendok the garam)

4.   5 cups of water (5 cangkir air)

1. Wash the mung bean (Cucilah kacang hijau)

2. Boil the water (Rebuslah air)

3. Put the mung bean into the boiling water ( Masukkanlah kacang hijau ke dalam air yang mendidih)

4. let the mung bean become tender ( Biarkanlah kacang hijau menjadi lunak)

5. Add the salt and the sugar (Tambahkanlah garam dan gula pasir)

6. Simmer for 30 minutes (Didihkanlah secara perlahan-lahan selama 30 menit)

7. Now you can serve it (Sekarang anda dapat menyajikannya)
