BUT BEFORE WE BEGIN

  • Here's a set of rules for the class:

  • No gadgets or memes.

  • Only open new tabs or programs when instructed to do so.

  • If you focus, you won't have any homework.

  • You can ask questions at any time, as long as they're related to the lesson,

3

Past Participle VS Simple Past Verbs

  • For most verbs, the past participle is just that verb with -ed, same as the simple past verbs (call -> called)

  • But some verbs need to be altered completely to become a past participle (write -> written, tear-> torn, take -> taken)

4

Past Participle VS Simple Past Verbs

  • Did you notice that past participle verbs are spelled differently from simple past verbs?

  • write -> wrote -> written

  • tear -> tore -> torn

  • take -> took -> taken

  • Past participles are also used in perfect tenses, unlike simple past verbs.

5

When do we use past participles?

  • When we want to use verbs as adjectives

  • Like this: She ate the burnt meat.

  • Or this: There is a broken vase on the floor.
