Do you remember what adjectives are?

  • They are words that help describe or add details to nouns.

  • They're usually written behind a noun: chubby puppy, happy children, laughing crowd, red car, etc.

  • Or after a noun and linking verb: that puppy is chubby, the children look happy, the crowd is laughing, that car is red

So what about possessive adjectives?

  • Possessive adjectives are used for only one thing: to tell us who owns what.

  • "my, your, his, her, its, our, your, their" are the most commonly used possessive adjectives

  • my book, your medicine, our house, his cat, their coffee.

  • Possessive adjective are ALWAYS placed behind a noun.

  • Possessive pronouns are different from possessive adjectives in terms of their spelling and how they are used.

  • this book is mine, this lunchbox is yours, this pitch used to be theirs

  • Possessive pronouns are ALWAYS used after the noun.
