4
Principle #1: Make your daily prayers meaningful.
The prophet Mormon warned that if anyone "shall pray and not with real intent of the heart...it profiteth him nothing, for God receiveth none such (Moroni 7:9). We are counseled to make our prayers meaningful, with sincerity and "with all energy of the heart" (Moroni 7:48). Avoid "vain repetitions" when we pray (Matthew 6:7). Give serious thought in our attitude and to the words we use.
5
Multiple Choice
Which of the following statements is appropriate when we pray.
We ask Thee, Heavenly Father, to bless and guide us always.
Thank you for all the blessings and guidance that we receive today.
We thanked Thee for all the blessings and guidance that Thou has given us.
I ask Thee to be bless us and guide as always.
6
Principle #2: Use language that shows love, respect, reverence, and closeness.
Use the pronouns Thee, Thine, Thy, Thou rather than common pronouns like you, your, yours. When you pray, use words that convey a loving and worshipful relationship with Heavenly Father no matter what language or dialect you use to pray. We become more comfortable to use our own language of prayer, gradually, as we pray daily and study the scriptures.

8
Principle #3: Always give thanks to Heavenly Father
As we remember and reflect upon the what Heavenly Father have given us, we should live with a thankful heart, for the many mercies and blessings that bestows upon us (Mosiah 34:38, D&C 46:26)
9
Open Ended
What can we learn from Joseph Smith's First prayer on the Sacred Grove? (Best Answer)
Scripture Hints: James 1:5
JSH 1: 10-20
Alma 37:36-37
10
Principle #4: Seek Heavenly Father's guidance and strength in everything that you do.
"We are commanded to pray always to the Father in the name of the Son (3 Nephi 18: 19-20). We are promised that if we pray sincerely for what which is right and good, and in accordance with God's will, we can be blessed, protected, and directed (3 Nephi 19:20, D&C 19:28)" - Pray Always, Elder David E. Bednar
11
Multiple Choice
What can we best learn from the prayer of Enos?
Scripture Hint: Enos 1, Alma 34:27
The Lord answers our prayers.
Our sins will be forgiven when we pray.
We should have a desire to pray for the welfare of others.
We need faith, diligence, and obedience for our prayers to be answered.
12
Principle #5: Remember the needs of others as you pray.
"Petitioning Heavenly Father for the blessings we desire in our personal lives is good and proper. However, praying earnestly for others, both those whom we love and those who despitefully use us, is also an important element of meaningful prayer. Just as expressing gratitude more often in our prayers enlarges the conduit for revelation, so praying for others with all of the energy of our souls increases our capacity to hear and to heed the voice of the Lord." (Pray Always, Elder David A. Bednar)

14
Principle #6: Seek the Guidance of the Holy Ghost so that you will know what to include in your prayer.
The Holy Ghost teachers us to pray (2 Nephi 32:8) and guide us in the things we say in our prayer (Roman 8:26). He can help us pray according to "the will of God" (D&C 46:30)

16
Principle #7: Our prayers our only as effective as our efforts.
"I long have been impressed with the truth that meaningful prayer requires both holy communication and consecrated work. Blessings require some effort on our part before we can obtain them, and prayer, as “a form of work, … is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings” (Bible Dictionary, “Prayer,” 753). We press forward and persevere in the consecrated work of prayer, after we say “amen,” by acting upon the things we have expressed to Heavenly Father...Asking in faith requires honesty, effort, commitment, and persistence." (Ask in Faith, Elder David A. Bednar)
17
Every sincere prayer is heard and answered by our Heavernly Father, but the answers we receive may not be what we expect.
Elder David A. Bednar

"We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Jesus Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth ad divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost." (Introduction of the Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:3-5)

Use a journal or a notebook where you can write your insights and lessons that you picked up as you study. The more respect we show for the things we learn, the more God will want to share with us.
"For he that diligently aseeketh shall find; and the bmysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the cHoly Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the dcourse of the Lord is one eternal round." (1 Nephi 10:19)

ARRANGE (Letters only)
A. Sorrow for Sin
B. Faith in the Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ
C. Confession
D. Restitution
E. Abandonment of Sin
F. Righteous Living
39
Repentance requires faith.
Repentance is an act of faith in Jesus Christ - acknowledging the power of His Atonement.
Gratefully recognizing His Atonement and His power to cleanse you from sin, you are able to exercise your "faith unto repentance" (Alma 34:17)
40
Godly Sorrow
Acknowledge that you have sinned
If you are striving to live the gospel, such acknowledgment will lead to "godly sorrow" which "worketh repentance unto salvation". (2 Corinthians 7:10)
Godly sorrow comes from the you have displeased Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Experiencing godly sorrow means having the desire for change and willingness to every requirement of forgiveness.
41
Confession
Willingness to disclose fully to Heavenly Father all that you have done through humble prayer. Acknowledge your sins, confess your feelings - your guilt and shame, and plead for Heavenly Father's help.
Serious transgression requires confession to both Heavenly Father and His church representatives (Bishop/Stake President/Mission President)
42
Abandonment of Sin
By this ye may know if a man repenteth of his sons - behold, he will confess them and forsake them. (D&C 58:43)
Keeping this commitment, will keep you free from the pain of that sin again.
43
Restitution
Restore as far as possible all that has been damaged for your actions.
Willing restitution shows the Lord that you will do all you can to repent
Righteous Living
Fill your life with righteousness and engage in activities that bring spiritual power.
Full obedience brings the complete power of the gospel into your life, including increased strength to overcome your weaknesses.
"He that repents and does the commandments of the Lord shall be forgiven" (D&C 1:42)
44
The Need for Repentance
"No unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of heaven" (Alma 11:37)
Sin keeps us unclean and unworthy to return and dwell in the presence of Heavenly Father.
Sinfulness brings suffering and pain, but the Lord's forgiveness brings relief, comfort, peace, and joy.
The Atonement of Jesus Christ enables us to be forgiven of our sins through sincere and complete repentance
45
The Lord promised us...
"Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more." (D&C 58:42)
