TOKYO OLYMPICS ABOUT​

The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXII Olympiad and branded as Tokyo 2020, was an international multi-sport event held from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Tokyo, Japan, with some preliminary events that began on 21 July.​

​TOKYO OLYMPICS ABOUT

Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the event was postponed to 2021 in March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first such instance in the history of the Olympic Games (previous games had been cancelled but not rescheduled).

​The Summer Paralympics will be held between 24 August and 5 September 2021, 16 days after the completion of the Olympics.

India competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

The nation sent its largest-ever contingent of 126 competitors to the 2020 Games.

Indian Olympians winning 7 medals (1 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze).

The Indian contingent participated in a record 69 events, and earned medals across 18 athletic disciplines.

​1. Neeraj Chopra :

Neeraj Chopra is the first track and field athlete to win a gold medal for India at the Olympics Record throw of 87.58m

The day Neeraj Chopra scripted history by winning Olympic gold medal at Tokyo Olympics, August 7, will be celebrated as National Javelin Day by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

She won the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Women's 49 kg category.(weightlifting)

She was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her contributions to the sport.

She was awarded Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award by the Government of India in 2018.

Bajrang Punia is an freestyle wrestler, who competes in the 65-kg weight category.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Punia won a bronze medal by defeating Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov with a wide 8-0 margin.

Punia is the only Indian wrestler to win 3 medals at the World Wrestling Championships.
