Practicing Compound Words

​Today we will work on Compound Words:

​When we sound out each word, we will be tapping out each sound on our fingers and saying them out loud.

​

​Compound words are two words, put together to make a new word and meaning.

​

​Our first compound word:

​backpack

​

​back + pack = backpack

​Next, the word toothbrush:

​

​tooth + brush = toothbrush

​

Our next word is

football:​

​foot + ball = football

​Remember a mirror can help to see our mouth making the correct sounds in words.

​We need to always sound out each word by tapping our fingers to each sound, then pulling them together to read the word!
