بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ (١)

In the name of Allah,

the most Gracious,

the most Merciful

​

​Ar-Rahman = most Gracious (giving)

Ar-Raheem= most Merciful (forgiving)

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ (٢)

Praise be to Allah, Lord of all of the worlds

​

Alhamdulillah = all praise is for Allah

Rabb = Lord

Alamin = all that exists (man, jinn)​

ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ (٣)

The most Gracious,

The Most Merciful

​

​Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem are two of

Allah’s 99 Names. Knowing His

names helps us know Allah better.

مَـٰلِكِ يَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ (٤)

​Master of the Day of Judgment

​

Maaliki = master

Yaum = day

إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ (٥)

You alone we worship

You alone we ask for help

​

Ibadah = worship

ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٲطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ (٦)

Guide is to the Straight Path

​

Sirat = path

Mustaqeem = straight

صِرَٲطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ غَيۡرِ ٱلۡمَغۡضُوبِ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ (٧)

The path of those who have earned your favor, not of those who have earned Your anger or gone astray.

Thus both the beliefs; tawhid and afterlife, make a Muslim become a responsible individual whose beliefs are sound and action measured.
