3. Observe all safety procedures in using tools at all times and use appropriate PPE.
3
WHAT ARE HAND TOOLS?
HAND TOOLS are hand-operated device used in engineering, manufacturing, metalwork, woodwork, and computer hardware servicing. Choosing the right tool for a particular job as important as knowing how to use it.
Right selection of tool for the task will greatly
improve the effectiveness of its use while reducing
the risk of damage to the project and to the tool itself.
4
TYPES OF HAND TOOLS

5
DRIVING TOOLS
DRIVING TOOLS designed for tightening, loosening or removing screws and bolts. These can be done by applying torque or force to move an object. The following are examples of driving tools:
6

Flat- Head Screwdriver – used to tighten and loosen slotted screws.
7

Phillips-head screwdriver – used to tighten and loosen cross-head screws.
8

Torx screwdriver – used to tighten and loosen six-pointed star-shaped screws.
9

Hex screwdriver is used to tighten and loosen hex socket screws. It is also called Allen wrench.

GRIPPING TOOLS
GRIPPING TOOLS used for gripping objects by using leverage. The following are considered as gripping tools:
16

Long-nose pliers are also known as needle-nose pliers used for reaching into small areas, holding small wires and components. They can also be sued for cutting.
17
Side-cutting pliers are also known as diagonal pliers used primarily for cutting and stripping wires.
18

Tweezers are used for picking up very small objects that are not easily handle by hands.
19
CUTTING TOOLS
CUTTING TOOLS used to cut wires and other objects into pieces. Pliers are also examples of cutting tools, other example includes blade cutter, which is useful when one needs to cut wires or remove insulator from small wires. Crimper It is used to cut and terminate UTP cables.
20
STRIKING TOOLS
STRIKING TOOLS the most widely used tools. These are used in variety of disciplines and specialization such as woodworking and metal crafts as leverage devices providing a striking force to complete endless variety of tasks. An example of striking tool is the rubber mallet which is useful when assembling projects that involve the casing.
21
DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS
DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS - Aside from hand tools, certain equipment is also needed for more accurate and quality service. Two of the commonly used equipment presented here for you to be familiar with.
22
Multimeter also known as multitester and Volt-Ohm Meter (VOM) and is used to test integrity of computer components. Measure voltage and current, and test resistance. The electronic version of the multitester is called a DMM (digital multimeter) or DVOM (digital Volt-Ohm meter).
23
LAN Cable Tester sometimes called network tester is used to check the condition and connectivity of a particular type of cable or other wired assemblies.
24
CLEANING TOOLS
Cleaning tools are a great help in the preventive maintenance of your computer. With regular used of these materials, you can assure that your computer will function and serve you better for a long period of time.
25

Lint-free cloth is used to wipe dirt and dust from the computer parts without scratch or leaving debris.
26

Compressed air is used to blow away dirt from different parts of the compute specially the CPU heat sink.
27

Cable straps are used to fasten or fix cables neatly.
28

Flashlight is used for proper illumination especially of the inside parts of the computer casing.
29
ESD TOOLS
ESD Tools prevents the sudden flow of electricity to avoid damage to your computer components and parts. ESD means Electrostatic Discharge.
30

Anti-Static Strap usually worn on your wrist to prevent the occurrence of ESD.
31

Anti-Static Mat is used to stand on or place hardware on to prevent static electricity from building up.
