Conditionals are sentences in English that are made of TWO parts:
A condition (starting with IF)
A result

We are talking about the future, a possible future. We are thinking about a particular situation or condition and there is a real possibility it will happen.
Example: If it rains, we will not go out
You can also use UNLESS which means "only if not"

Difference between 0 and 1st conditionals
(Zero Conditional) If you sit in the sun, you get burned.
This sentence means that this happens EVERY TIME a person sits in the sun - the burning is a natural consequence of sitting.
(First Conditional) If you sit in the sun, you will get burned.
This sentence means that this will happen today, another day might be different.
