2

PROPERTIES OF MATTER CAN BE CLASSIFIED AS

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES - Can be observed without any changes in its composition such as hardness, brittleness, flexibility, elasticity, conductivity, malleabilty and ductility.

CHEMICAL PROPETIES- are characteristics that can only be observed when the composition of the material has changed like COMBUSTIOBILITY,FLAMMABILITY, BIODEGRADABILITY are some of the examples.

3

PHYSICAL CHANGE - happen s when there's change in size, shape or form.

CHEMICAL CHANGE - when the composition of the material is altered, with formation of new product , formation of gas, release or absorption of heat and formation of precipitate are some evidences of chemical change.

4

MINIMIZING WASTE PRODUCTIONS

PRACTICING 5 R'S - REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE, RECOVER, AND REPAIR - TECHNIQUES IN WASTES MANAGEMENT

5

REDUCING-REDUCE -

Lessening the amount of wastes in the environment, avoiding the usage of disposable materials

6

REUSING- RE-USE

IT MEANS USING THE SAME MATERIALS AGAIN FOR THE SAME PURPOSE

7

RECYCLING-RECYCLE

THIS INVOLVES THE CREATION OF A NEW PRODUCT FROM A MATERIAL THAT HAS ALREADY SERVED ITS PURPOSE.

8

RECOVERING/RECOVER

HARNESSING ENERGY FROM WASTES THROUGH CERTAIN PROCESSES LIKE PYROLYSIS, ALSO OTHER PARTS CAN BE RE USED

9

REPAIRING/REPAIR

FIXING SLIGHTLY BROKEN THINGS TO MAKE THEM USEFUL AGAIN, REDUCE WASTES AND SAVES MONEY.
