Crime Scene Reconstruction Activity

  • Your group will receive another group's sketch and set of evidence

  • Use the sketch to recreate the other group's crime scene

  • Use metersticks to measure out the x- and y-coordinates to set up the pieces of evidence

  • Once your crime scene has been recreated, it will be check by me!

Evidence Collection Activity​ Pt. 1

  • ​After successfully reconstructing your crime scene, your group will work together to collect 2 pieces of evidence.

  • Steps to evidence collection:​​

    • ​Attach and fill out the Chain of Custody label 

    • Create paper bindle

      Place evidence in bindle and put bindle in zip lock bag

      Create and evidence ID card 

    • Place the zip lock bag and evidence ID card into a paper bag

    • Fold over the bag, tape the opening, and sign over the tape.

Tip: Do NOT sign the Chain of Custody

​label until you take your evidence to the crime lab!

Evidence Collection Activity Pt. 2

  • ​After collecting and packaging your evidence you will deliver your evidence to the crime lab (either Mr. Renteria or Mr. Quindara)

  • Your goal is to walk us through how to open an evidence bag and then close it up following the correct procedures

  • Steps to transfer evidence:

    • Sign the "Chain of Custody" label

    • Open the evidence bag at a different opening

    • Take out the evidence for analysis

    • Place evidence and evidence ID card back in the bag

    • Tape over the new opening and sign over the tape
