​These are tenses that indicate the actions are already done or completed, whether in the past, present, or future.

They use auxiliary verbs like had, has or have, and will have along with the past participle of verbs.

PROGRESSIVE TENSES​

​They indicate a continuing action, whether it's in the past, present, or future.

They use was/were, is/are, will/shall be verbs along with the present participle of the verb.

The present participle of the verb is simply its base form + -ing.​

​Spelling changes may occur.

​Examples: walking, playing, spinning, sitting, baking
