What is an introduction?

• ​an introduction is simply a series of chords that establish key, tempo, and mood

• ​introductions are normally non-melodic

• ​the chords can be block chords, broken chords or even a groove

• ​an introduction can be basically a flourish or longer chord passage, or even a stand alone piece like a prelude or an overture or a sinfonia
