The reported speech is the way in which you can tell, explain , write or say something in your own words

RULES

​Rule N ° 1 the verb tenses change.

​In direct speech or in the direct style, all verb tense expressions are in the present tense. But when you use the indirect style or reported speech this verb changes to the past tense .

​Rule # 2 : The tenses of modal verbs, also known as modal verbs in English , also change.
