​The Neolithic Age

  • ​After the Ice Age ended, the planet began to get warmer.

  • This period of time began around 8,000 B.C.E., lasted until 4,000 B.C.E.

  • ​This was the age where Humans shifted from a Hunters & Gatherer society to farming.

  • ​Humans discovered it was easier to settle in one place (typically by water) and grow their food.

  • ​Farmers planted staple crops beginning 9,000 years ago.

  • ​In China, they grew plants such as rice.

  • ​Central America they planted corn, beans, and squash.

  • ​Africa, the people grew tubers such as yams.

  • ​Farmers domesticated plants which means they tamed or adapted the plants for personal use.
