Did you know that you could also shorten numbers?
It's called Scientific Notation.
So what is scientific notation?
Scientific Notation - a method for expressing a given quantity as a number having significant digits necessary for a specified degree of accuracy, multiplied by 10 to the appropriate power, as 1385.62 written as 1.386 × 10^3.

How do you create short versions of long numbers?
Mathematicians and scientists are effective and efficient. They found out that by using powers of 10, they can create short versions of long numbers.
Thus, mathematicians use scientific notation to write extremely large and extremely small numbers. Scientific notation expresses a number in the following form: 137,000,000 can be rewritten as
1.37 X 108

Standard MGSE8.EE3
Use numbers expressed in scientific notation to estimate very large or very small quantities, and to express how many times as much one is than the other.

Format
The COEFFICIENT has a to be a value greater than 1, but also less than 10
The BASE is always 10
The EXPONENT tells us whether we move the decimal left (negative value) or the to the right (positive value) when converting from scientific notation to standard notation
