I am writing to tell you about my summer holiday.

 

Last month, I went on holiday to Rome with my family. It was great because I love exploring new cities and there were lots of things to do in Rome.

 

My brother studied European History in university, so we went to visit some historical museums and monuments to learn about Italian culture and history, especially the Romans. The coliseum was my favourite. It was enormous! It was four stories high surrounded by giant thick walls made of concrete and stone. The tour guides told us all about the games that took place inside and I took many pictures.

 

Our family loves Italian food, so we were very excited to try the food at a traditional Italian restaurant. My favourite food is pizza, but my parents prefer lasagna and spaghetti bolognaise. We tried everything on the menu. I didn’t like the lasagna but everything else was delicious.

 

My sister is an artist. She likes drawing but prefers painting, so we went to some art museums to see work by Leonardo De Vinci. Leonardo De Vinci is a famous Italian painter. He painted the Mona Lisa.

 

I really enjoyed the art and history museums, but I prefer shopping, so we went to the main fashion street in Rome. Everyone in my family loves Italian fashion, especially Dolce and Gabbana and Gucci! I bought shoes, my sister bought trousers and my mother bought a black leather handbag.

 

I hope to return some day.
