There are 2 type of sentences:

  2. Compound Sentence

3

What is SIMPLE SENTENCE?

-Simple sentence contains ONE subject and ONE predicate and forms ONE complete thought/sentence.

-It is also called Independent clause.

4

For examples:

-Can you help me with the packages, please?

-Ali and Seth are going camping with their English club next week.

-Mardiah and Marwadah have mopped and cleaned the living room yesterday.

5

Some simple sentence can be as simple as possible. A simple sentence can contain ONE SUBJECT and ONE VERB.

FOR EXAMPLE:

The man runs.

* Here, the sentence only contains a subject [The man] and a verb [runs]

6

If we add any additional "flavour" to the sentence, can it still be considered as a simple sentence?

for example:

The man runs.

>>

The tall man runs.

The tall man runs very fast.

7

The answer is YES...

WHY??

The tall man runs.

The tall man runs very fast.

* Even though you added adjective [tall] and adverb [very fast]; as it only contain a subject and a verb, it is still consider a SIMPLE SENTENCE.
