​THE UNITED STATES

​The United States of America is in North America. It is the biggest English-speaking country in the world. 335 million people (335 000 000) live in the U.S. It consists of 50 individual states that combine to make one country – this is why it is called The United States. Some of the biggest states are California, Florida and Texas.

​The capital of the United States is Washington DC. Other big cities are New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. The flag has fifty white stars, one for each state. It also has thirteen red and white stripes to represent the first 13 states. It looks like this:
