​A noun is any name of a person, place , animal or thing. They are many types of nouns that include of collective, proper, common singular & plural and much more. In this presentation we will be fouced on the types of nouns.

​Proper nouns are any special names of any person, animal or place while., common nouns is any ordinary name of a person, animal, place, thing or idea.

​collective nouns are best described as a noun that presents a group of people, animal or any noun. Collective nouns are commonly found in collective phrases.

​Compound nouns are nouns that are formed with 2 nouns or smaller words. It can also, refer to the the merging of 2 smaller words. They are 3 types of these compound nouns. They include the

  • Hyphened

  • ​Spaced

  • W/o space

​Hyphened Compound Words

​Hyphened compound words are words that are joined by a hyphen "-".

Example are;

  • Six- pack

  • ​son-in-law

  • ​empty-handed

  • ​far-flung

  • ​close-up

​W/O space compound words/ nouns

​W/o space compound words are formed by joining or merging two words or more together without any space they are formed as such like this:

​House + Wife= housewife

Some examples of this type are:

  • ​postcard

  • ​bulldog

  • ​homework

  • ​lighthouse

​Just like the w/o space rule you merge the two words and leave one slot space to complete the word.
