​In the name of Allah let's begin our lesson for today.

​Major Landforms of the Earth

​The different major landforms are:

​There are two processes which lead to formation of different landforms.

​The landforms of the Earth 's surface are formed as a result of external and internal

​Mountain

​Plateaus

​Plains

​Mountain is the highest landform on the surface of the Earth.

A line of the mountains is known as a range

​Mountains are divided into three categories:

​1.Fold

​2. Volcanic

​3. Block

​Fold mountains: Scientists classify the fold mountains into young and old fold mountains example of fold mountain are ( Himalaya , Alps and Andes)

​Block mountains: form when faults or cracks in the earth's crust force some materials or blocks of rock up and down.

​Volcanic Mountains: are formed due the volcanic activities.

​Himalaya

​Alps

​Andes

​Plateaus are unique landforms found on all continents.

​There are two types of Plateaus :

​1. dissected

​2. volcanic

​Dissected Plateaus: form as a result upward movement in the Earth's crust

​volcanic plateaus: formed by numerous small volcanic eruptions that slowly build up over time.
