​Word Work: Spartan army

• ​Spartan will be used in two ways:

  • ​1st describes the people of ancient Sparta - Instead , all Spartan men served permanently or for all time in the Spartan army and lived in army camps.

  • ​2nd describes things today - We even use the word Spartan today to describe something difficult that requires you to be strong in body and mind and that takes a great deal of self-discipline.

• ​When I go camping with my mother for a week, we live a Spartan life with only one change of clothes, a tent, and some canned food.
