​A class of 40 pupils. 2/5 of them are boys. How many are girls?

​Among 40 pupils, 2/5 are boys. Ibig sabihin, ang 3/5 ay girls. I-compute lamang ito gamit ang multiplication. (Nakuha ang 3/5 dahil ang fraction para sa 40 ay 5/5. So, 5/5 - 2/5 = 3/5)

Ang sagot ay:

​"There are 24 girls in the class."

Rene had Php 960. He spent 1/3 of his money on food. How many were left to him?

Kapareho lamang ito sa naunang problem. Bukod sa naunang solution, maaari ring i-multiply muna ang Php 960 sa 1/3, tapos ay i-minus ang sagot sa Php 960.

Ang sagot ay:

​"Php 728 was left to Rene."

Magkaiba man ang solution o paraan ng pag-compute, basta naunawaan ang "What is asked?" (nais hanapin sa problem), makaka-come up sa tamang solution at lalabas pa rin ang iisang sagot.

​(At kailangan ding naka-lowest term o simplest form ang sagot.)

​Showing the Reciprocal of Fraction

​The RECIPROCAL of a fraction is found by inverting the fraction.(multiplicative inverse) These are the numerator and denominator are interchanged. Multiplying a fraction by its reciprocal is equal to 1.

​(Ibig sabihin, pagpapalitin lang ng puwesto ang kung ano ang nasa numerator at denominator ng isang fraction. May ilan lang dapat tandaan kung whole number, 1 ang numerator, o mixed number.)

​Kapag proper o improper fraction, pagpalitin lamang ng puwesto ang nasa numerator at denominator.

​Improper Fraction (8/5)

Kapag ang fraction ay 1 ang numerator, magiging whole number ito (dahil hindi na isinusulat ang 1 kapag ito ay nasa denominator).

Kapag naman ito ay whole number, magiging fraction ito na one (1) ang numerator.

Kapag naman mixed number, gawin muna itong improper fraction (multiply the denominator by the whole number, then add the numerator) pagkatapos ay baligtarin.
