Module 1 Lesson 15

Review of Ratios and Ratio Tables

2

Lesson 15 Exercise #1:

Start on Page 62 and read the paragraph under Exploratory Challenge. Highlight the important information that you will need.

Use this information to complete Exercise #1. Read all the instructions!

Use the space provided to:

  • Create a table for hours 1 through 6.

  • Make sure the left column is labeled HOURS and the right column is labeled VIEWS.

Don't move to the next slide until you have finished your table. You will answer Multiple Choice questions.

Exercise #2

To answer the question: "What is the constant number, c, that makes the ratios equivalent?" it is asking you what is the relationship from HOURS to VIEWS.

You will use this answer to write AN EQUATION that represents a relationship between views (v) and hours (h). Use the same variables.

Be ready to answer TWO multiple choice questions on the next slides.

There are TWO correct answers:

What are the EQUATIONS that can be used to represent the table?

1

12H=V12H=V

2

12V=H12V=H

3

H÷12=VH\div12=V

4

V÷12=HV\div12=H

Exercise #3

Remember when writing your ordered pairs ... you must use parentheses.

You should have at least SIX ordered pairs listed

and your first one should be (1, 12).

Hours will represent your x-value and Views will represent you y-value.

9

Exercise #4

When plotting your SIX ordered pairs:

  • Count by 4's on your y-value (the views)

  • Count by 1's on your x-value (hours)

  • Make sure your x- and y-axis are labeled!

The next slide will show you the answer.

Exercise #5

Predict how many views the website will have after TWELVE hours.

Here are a list of the TWO ways you can show this answer:

  • Ratio Table

  • A tape diagram (changing the value of each box)

  • Fraction form and use multiplication to show it's equivalent.

The next slide has a question you need to answer .. don't move on until you're ready!

How many views will the website have after 12 hours?

Using the information at the top of page 65:

  • Fill in the table

  • Create your graph (make sure you label the x-and y-axis)

  • Answer the question "What would you have to do to the graph ..."

  • You do not need to demonstrate on your graph.

  • Answer the question "How many eggs would be needed if the recipe called for 16 tablespoons of water?"

Exercise #6

The next slide has questions you need to answer. Make sure you finished all of page 65 before moving on.

Multiple Choice

What is the label of the y-axis on your graph?

when answering the question on Page 66 ...

You can answer using whatever method you want, you do not need to use a diagram or explain why you choose that method.

Exercise #7

The next slide has questions you need to answer. Make sure you finished all of page 65 before moving on.

18

Multiple Choice

How much water will you need if you are using 36 eggs?
