​What is Multiplication?

​the process or skill of multiplying.

the process of adding a number to itself a certain number of times : the act or process of multiplying numbers. : an increase in the number or amount of something.

​What is the sign used for SUBTRACTION?

​The sign used for multiplication is the into sign.

Shown in the picture below is the sign of multiplication.

​What are the terms of MULTIPLICATION?

​Multiplicand: is the number to be multiplied

​

Multiplier: is the number that tells how many times a multiplicand should be multiplied. 

​

Product: is the number that you get to by multiplying two or more other numbers together.

​The multiplicand and the multiplier are also called factors. The multiplier is often written first, but the position of these numbers does not really matter.

​What are the Properties of MULTIPLICATION

​Order Property- If the order of the factors is changed the order of the product does not change. Ex: 4x5 = 5x4 = 20

​

​Grouping Property- If the grouping of the factors is changed the product does not change. Ex: (2x4) x 3 = 2 x (4x3)

​

​Zero Property- If zero is one of the factors, the product is zero. Ex: 0x4=0

​

​Property of One- If a number is multiplied by 1, then the product is equal to that number itself. Ex: 8x1=8
