Sentence

​A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark.

Type of sentence

​

• A DECLARATIVE SENTENCE tells something and end with a period. Example: James lives in the city.

​

• An INTEROGATIVE SENTENCE asks a question and ends with a question mark. Example: Has James ever lived in the city?

• An EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE express strong feeling and ends with a exclamation point. Example: James is the best friend I ever had! ​

Punctuation mark

A mark used in writing to separate sentences and their elements.

DECLARATIVE SENTENCE

• I like the cats more than dogs.

• I put on a raincoat.

• Ron will give you a letter.

INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE ​

Examples:

• What is your favorite color?

• When will you sing?

• Can I go to the party tomorrow?

• Oh, my!
