Digestion is the breakdown of food substances into smaller parts.

​Types of digestion

There are two types of digestion:

​1. Mechanical

​physical breakdown by the crushing of teeth or the churning of muscles

​breakdown of chemicals in food assisted by enzymes

​The importance of teeth in digestion

​Teeth breaks down food mechanically into smaller pieces.
