​I. CÁCH DÙNG CỦA NHỮNG TỪ CHỈ ĐỊNH ( demonstratives )

​xét ví dụ sau:

​Do you have this dress in blue?

(Bạn có chiếc vày Này màu xanh không?

​

​This - này -> đây là 1 từ chỉ định

​1. Cách sử dụng:

​Chúng ta sử dụng "this (này), that (kia), these (những..này), those (những..kia)" để chỉ những người, vật mà chúng ta nói đến.

​1.1 this (này) that (kia)

​-"this" dùng chỉ 1 người/ 1 vật ở gần chúng ta

​VD1: I like this blue dress.

​( tôi thích chiếc váy màu xanh này)

- "that" dùng chỉ 1 người/ 1 vật ở xa chúng ta

​

​VD2: I don't like that black T-shirt

​( Tôi không thích chiếc áo phông màu đen kia)

​1.2 these (những..này) those (những ...kia)

​-"these" dùng chỉ 2 hay nhiều người/ vật ở gần chúng ta

​VD1: How much are these hats?

​( Những chiếc mũ này giá bao nhiêu)

- "those" dùng chỉ 2 hay nhiều người/ vật ở xa chúng ta

​

​VD2: What size are those shirts?

​( Những chiếc áo sơ mi kia kích cỡ nào?)

​=> kết luận:

-"this" "that"dùng chỉ danh từ số ít

​-"these" "those"dùng chỉ danh từ số nhiều

​II. OBJECTIVE PRONOUNS ( ĐẠI TỪ NHÂN XƯNG TÂN NGỮ)

=> ​Chúng ta sử dụng đại từ nhân xưng tân ngữ sau 1 động từ hoặc 1 giới từ

​VD: Look at this dress. Do you like it?

​( Nhìn chiếc váy này đi,bạn có thích nó không?

​-> it (nó) thay cho từ chiếc váy này, từ "it" chính là 1 đại từ nhân xưng tân ngữ

​II. OBJECTIVE PRONOUNS ( ĐẠI TỪ NHÂN XƯNG TÂN NGỮ)

VD2: Look at those T-shirts. Do you have them in small size?

​( Nhìn những chiếc áo phông kia đi, bạn có chúng ở cỡ nhỏ không ?

​-> "them" (chúng) thay cho từ những chiếc áo phông, từ "them" chính là 1 đại từ nhân xưng tân ngữ

​Kết luận:

​Chúng ta dùng "it" thay cho danh từ số ít ở vị trí tân ngữ

​Chúng ta dùng "them" thay cho danh từ số nhiều ở vị trí tân ngữ
