OBJECTIVES

​To review Drama Genres

​To participate in a dramatic reading of the play 'Zuri' by Naima Thompson.

​To reflect on the relevance of drama genres.

​REVISION

• ​Tragedy: sad ending

• ​Comedy: twist of plots andhappy ending

• ​Melodrama: wide range of human emotions

• ​Farce: not focused on serious themes

• ​Tragi-comedy: includes elements of comedy and tragedy

• ​Black Comedy: a sub-genre of comedy and satire that treats serious themes with comic exaggeration or sheer bluntness.

• ​Romance: a stoory that uses elements of love, chivalry and adventure.

• ​Pantomime: theatrical entertainment for children that uses music, dance, slapstick comedy, stock characters, based on nursery/fairy tales and is held during Christmas time.

• ​Musical: a theatrical production that includes, music, dance and dialogue.
