Litt forklaring på norsk først...
I 1620, var det folk i England som ville ha et bedre liv. Amerika hadde blitt oppdaget, det het den nye verden. Da tenkte disse menneskene at de kunne starte et nytt liv i den nye verden. De er kjent som "pilgrims".
Det var 102 av dem som reiste på et skip som het "The Mayflower".

Da pilgrimmene ankom den nye verden, var det egentlig allerede noen som bodde der. Det var "The Native Americans/Indians".
Uten hjelp fra Indianerne hadde pilgrimmene aldri kunnet overlevd i denne nye verden for de visste ikke hvordan de kunne dyrke mat eller finne vann.
Den første Thanksgiving skjedde ett år senere, i 1621. Det var en 3 dagers feiring for å takke Indianerne for hjelpen.
