​TODAY’S TARGET: Recognize the three elementary climate zones as tropical, temperate, and polar. Recognize that Florida lies between the tropical and temperate climate zones.

​Climate can be summarized this way: climate is what you expect, weather is what you get.

What affects Climate?

• The latitude of a location: Closer to the equator= warmer climate

• Large bodies of water like oceans and lakes: Weather is more constant throughout the year

• Mountains and Elevation - climate can change dramatically

• This is caused by Earth’s curved surface.
