We hope to ...

  • get an idea of WHICH ones you are using

  • briefly introduce you to a few that I have tried (and LOVE!)

  • encourage a few more of you to step outside your comfort zone and try something new !

If you had to choose, what would you say is your biggest apprehension to trying a new ED TECH tool in your class?

I'm comfortable doing what I have always done.

I'm worried my students won't "get it" and it could be a HUGE failure.

I simply don't have enough time to try out all the new Ed Tech out there.

My school doesn't have the resources and / or equipment I need.

7

Thanks for participating...

Now, I'd like to share a

few of my

favorite tools with you.

8

#1 Wordwall

  • What? -- Amazing resource for gamifying ANY lesson.

  • Why?-- Convenient and Engaging ! Make your own game OR search the "community" for pre-done activities!

  • Pros -- Multiple Game Types / Templates to choose from! For only $80 a month you get access to NEARLY every feature this app has!

  • Cons -- None ! All my classes love it!

9

#2 Baamboozle

  • What? -- A game board great for review!

  • Why?-- Review Activity for young learners OR Ice Breaker for Higher Level classes

  • Pros -- Easy to use, silly and cute animations, great for young learners

  • Cons -- There is only 1 game template!

#3 Blooket

  • What? -- A video-game style app that puts your students in competition with each other

  • Why? -- Taps into many students love of video games

  • Pros -- Fun, creative, exciting

  • Cons -- requires multiple devices, not conducive to group play on a smartboard.

#4 Quizizz

  • What? -- The tool I am currently using to present

  • Why? -- makes assessments more fun!

  • Pros -- offers a HUGE catalogue of pre-done quizzes & has a new "lesson" feature that is GREAT !

  • Cons -- you need to save the google search images you want onto your computer before importing them into your quiz (Annoying!)

media

12

#5 Hidden Picture / Slow Reveal Type Games

  • What -- YouTube / Free PPTs that gradually reveal or zoom out from an image

  • Why-- great for prompting questions from the students

Pros -- Tons of topics and themes to choose from ! Zero prep required!

  • Cons -- You can't simply let the video play. You need to pause it intermittently.

Thank you and one last thing...

  • this QR will take you to a Padlet (think collaborative idea board) that is meant to be a sort of "one-stop-shop" for all your Ed Tech needs. Feel free to use it, add to it, comment, share. Hope it helps!
