​COUNTABLE nouns

• sono “sostantivi numerabili”​, ovvero sostantivi che si possono contare (hanno sia la forma singolare che plurale)

• ​presentano il verbo sia al singolare che al plurale

• ​al singolare si usa l'articolo a/an

​There is an apple

​There are three apples

​There are some apples

​COUNTABLE nouns

per chiedere la quantità di oggetti "numerabili" si usa la domanda

​HOW MANY .... ?

​How many eggs are there in the fridge?

​

​There are 8 eggs in the fridge.

UN​COUNTABLE nouns

• sono “sostantivi NON numerabili”​, ovvero sostantivi che NON si possono contare (hanno SOLO la forma singolare)

• ​presentano il verbo SOLO al singolare

• ​NON si usa mai l'articolo a/an

• ​per indicare la quantità si usa some

​There is some milk

UN​COUNTABLE nouns

per chiedere la quantità di oggetti "non numerabili" si usa la domanda

​HOW MUCH .... ?

​How much milk is there in the fridge?

​

​There is some milk in the fridge.

UN​COUNTABLE nouns

​Come facciamo a sapere se un nome è uncountable?

​

• ​polveri and grani: tutto ciò che viene in “polvere” o “grani” ha unità cosi minuscole per essere contate singolarmente, quindi tutto ciò è uncountable (es. bread - pane; flour - farina)

• ​liquidi: tutto ciò che è liquido non può essere contato in unità, quindi è uncountable (es. milk - latte; tea - tè)

• ​materiali: quando indico il materiale, non è contabile o divisibile in unità, quindi è uncountable (es. plastic - plastica; wood - legno)
