Vocabulary: Multiple Meaning Words
Sometimes, a word has more than one meaning. When reading, you may come across a word you think you know but the meaning you know does not make sense in the sentence. You have come across a multiple-meaning word.
Look at the words, phrases, and sentences around the word to get clues about its meaning. These are context clues. If you are still unsure, use a dictionary to look up the word’s definitions and choose the one that fits the sentence.
