When citing a piece of evidence, be sure that you include our quotation marks, author's name, and page number where you found your evidence. Below is an example of how to correctly cite the original piece of evidence.
"I stare at the paper slips in the girls’ ball. Twenty of them have Katniss Everdeen written on them in careful handwriting" (Collins 17).

You may introduce evidence using the author's name in the sentence. In this case, you can include only the page number in parenthesis. Below is an example of how you could do this.
Collins shows Katniss wishing for anyone's name to be pulled but her own. "I stare at the paper slips in the girls’ ball. Twenty of them have Katniss Everdeen written on them in careful handwriting" (7).

When citing a piece of evidence where someone is already speaking, be sure to correctly use apostrophes. Below is an example of how to correctly cite the original piece of evidence.
“'Just a squirrel. Think the old man was feeling sentimental this morning,' says Gale" (Collins 7).
