What is partial quotients?
Partial quotients is a division strategy that uses friendly multiplication facts to determine the quotient.
11
Steps to solving partial quotients
Determine which number represents the divisor and write the three friendly facts.
Next, you are to write the multiples of your friendly facts, with the multiple NOT to exceed the dividend.
Subtract out the biggest multiple, noting the multiplication fact that makes the multiple and circling how many times you used the divisor.
Continue the above step until you reach zero or as close to zero as possible.
Lastly, to determine the quotient, add the numbers that you circled.
