Measure of Center

by Zanier Fuller

2

What is the measure of center?

  • A single value used to represent a set of data.

  • It is often referred to the "typical" value.

  • The most common measures of center is MEAN & MEDIAN.

3

The MEAN of the data

How to caluclate mean.

1) add all the values in the data set.

2) Divide the sum by the # of values in the data set.

media

4

The MEDIAN of the data

How to caluclate median.

1) orgainze data in ascending or descending order.

2) The median is the value that falls in the middle.

***** when two numbers fall in the middle, add them and divide by 2
