Tides

Tides are the regular rise and fall of the surface of water in large water bodies. They are caused because of the gravitational attraction between the moon and the earth . Gravity  is the force which attracts everything towards itself. Since the moon is very close to the earth , its gravitational force pulls the water in the oceans . This creates bulges in the ocean on both the sides.

3

Spring Tides :

Spring tides are especially strong tides. They do not have anything to do with the season spring. They occur when the earth , the sun and the moon are in a line. The gravitational forces of the moon and the sun both contribute to the tides. Spring tides occur during the full moon and the new moon .

4

Neap Tides :

Neap tides are especially weak tides . They occur when the gravitational forces of the moon and the sun oppose one another . Neap tides occur during quarter moons
