Patterns of media use, (e.g. by gender, age, social class and ethnicity)
Media representation of ethnicity, gender, age, class and disability

What is the influence of the media?
The role of the traditional/new media in shaping values, attitudes and behaviour, with particular reference to television and violence; political beliefs and voting; patterns of consumption; gender stereotyping; traditional stereotyping, the influence of the Internet in areas such as social networking.

What is the influence of the media?
Explanations of the influence of the media: hypodermic–syringe model, audience selection, cultural effects approach, uses and gratifications model

Developments in the media including changes in ownership, globalisation, interactivity, the digital divide, diversification and convergence within the media

Media
The media are the ways in which people communicate with each other, and so they are essential to societies and culture.

ULC Tour
The class will tour the school for 10 minutes.
Ms. Chloe will guide you through different parts of the school. Observe and list down how forms of media are utilized in the school. Bring paper and pen. (Not your gadget). Observation is individual work.
Please be quiet and listen to Ms. Chloe's instructions.
Important: Follow rules so Ms. Ebro won't lose his job.

Goal: Make an output that answers your research questions.
Role: You are a member of ULink TV, a student-led organization that provides students an opportunity to share interesting writing, videos, presentations, etc.
Audience: Members of the school community such as students, teachers, parents, office staff, etc.

Situation: Your group decided to research about ULC students' media use (traditional and new). To answer the questions, you will use two research methods (interview, survey, etc.)
Product: Your output will be in a form of an essay, video, or infographic that answers your chosen research questions. (2).
Short Essay (minimum 1000 words)
Video (minimum 6 minutes)
Infographic (One page infographic with 300-word description)

Question Generation: STEP 1: 5 Minutes
Rules:
Ask as many questions as you can. List it down on a piece of paper.
Do not stop to discuss, judge, or answer the questions.
Write down every question exactly as it is stated.
Change any statement into a question.
Use the video, the tour, and the list of media use to generate questions about how ULC staff and students use the media (traditional and new)
