We change REGULAR verbs to simple past tense by adding:

• -ed when the verb ends in a consonant (work - - worked) some

• -d when the verb ends in "e" (like - - liked)

• We change the "y" into "i" when the verb ends in a consonant followed by a "y" (study - - studied)

• When some verbs end in a vowel + consonant, we double the consonant and add "ed" at the end (stop - - stopped)
